Our Mission
The
primary mission of the Black Mental Health Alliance is to provide a
forum and promote a holistic, culturally relevant approach
to the development and maintenance of optimal mental health programs
and services for African Americans and other people of color.
Guiding Principles
The Guiding Principles of BMHA’s programs, training and
consultations are: Concern for Others, Integrity, Respect for
Diversity and Empowerment.
BMHA promotes appropriate mental health care, service delivery and
theoretical understanding of all the mental health programs.
BMHA,
incorporated in 1984 is a 501(c)3 organization that provides
training, education, consultation, public information, support
groups and resource referrals regarding mental health and related
issues. BMHA is governed by a board of directors and is staffed by
an executive director, project directors, consultants, a school
based mental health therapist and receptionist.
