The Helene Fuld School of Nursing (HFSON) is committed to providing exemplary education that broadens empowered nursing student’s intellectual and scholarly pursuits while promoting healthy communities and strengthening relationships with local, national and global partners. Dean Tracey Murray and the HFSON faculty have been avid supporters of BMHA’s programs and services through sponsorship, event hosting, and as subject matter experts in a number of forums.
HFSON has a rich history of nurturing potential and transforming the lives of our students. The administration, faculty and staff are indeed committed to teaching excellence, evidence-based practice, scholarship and community service to Rebuild The Village :
  • HFSON encourages students to be actively involved in the teaching-learning environment. Students engage in clinical experiences throughout the Baltimore area with extension throughout Maryland. Whether in the acute care setting, ambulatory care or in the community, HFSON students are transforming the healthcare delivery system in their dedication to working with vulnerable and underserved patients, families and groups.
  • Students are also involved in the community through experiences such as Take a Love One to the Doctor Day, the Power to End Stroke, World AIDS Day and the Pythias A. and Virginia I. Jones African American Community Forum on Memory Loss.
  • Moreover, upon graduation from the HFSON, students are equipped to continue in lifelong learning by pursuing either their Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate degree. Our program continues to prepare well-educated professional nurses who are gaining employment locally and nationally. Further expansion of our program focuses on global outreach in Barbados and Quito, Ecuador.
  • The Family Nurse Practitioner Program prepares nurses to provide advanced Primary Health Care to underserved populations in an urban setting. The program of study integrates cultural norms, values, and health practices of underserved and vulnerable populations. The well-integrated curriculum is the basis for the students emerging as highly qualified Family Nurse Practitioners providing excellent primary health care that is culturally sensitive.
  • HFSON faculty is committed to providing excellence in nursing education, practice and research. The School of Nursing manages the CSU Community Health Center and the Coppin Clinic at St. Frances. At Coppin State University, you will find yourself in a “caring” environment encouraged to reach your highest potential supported by faculty scholars who believe students come first.
