Welcome to BMHA

The Black Mental Health Alliance for Education and Consultation, Inc. (BMHA) was founded on December 9, 1983 and received its Articles of Incorporation on January 1, 1984. BMHA is a private non-profit 501(C) 3 organization which provides training, consultation, support groups, resource referral, public information, and educational resources regarding mental health and mental illness issues. The Guiding Principles of BMHA’s mental health programs, trainings, and consultations are “Concern for Others, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, and Empowerment.” BMHA has developed into a regionally well-known and respected health and human services force whose track record is sound and the staff of which is frequently called upon with requests for its expertise.

The current success and growth of BMHA is highly attributed to the devotion and commitment of six charismatic Executive Directors: Walter Wilson, Tony Fulton, J. Bobbie Frasier, Jr., Edgar Wiggins, Tracee Bryant –Hall and Jan A. Desper (1993-2000 and second term April 2013 to Present).
